Eleva Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 30, 2025
Eleva ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Eleva home automation mobile application ("App"). Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information when you use the Eleva App:
- Personal Information: Your username, which you provide during account setup, is stored locally on your device.
- Device and Sensor Data: The App collects accelerometer data to enable shake detection for controlling connected devices. This data is processed locally and not stored or transmitted unless explicitly required for diagnostics.
- Network and Device Configuration Data: The App collects the IP address of your ESP32 device and WiFi settings to facilitate communication with your home automation devices. This information is stored locally on your device.
- Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the App, such as pin control settings, schedules, and favorite scenes, is stored locally using SharedPreferences.
- Diagnostic Logs: The App generates logs for troubleshooting, which may include IP addresses, shake detection events, and connection statuses. These logs are stored locally and can be viewed within the App.
- Cloud Data: The App may communicate with a cloud server (e.g., meghdootlab.in) to fetch the public IP address of your ESP32 device using a unique key. No personally identifiable information is sent to the cloud unless explicitly provided by you.
- Location Data: The App may request access to your device’s location (approximate or precise) to enable WiFi-based device discovery or connectivity features during setup. This data is used locally and not stored or transmitted unless required for device discovery.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Provide and improve the App’s functionality, such as controlling home automation devices via shake detection, scheduling, and scene management.
- Connect to your ESP32 device over WiFi for real-time control and status updates.
- Store your preferences, such as device names, schedules, and room names, locally on your device for a personalized experience.
- Generate diagnostic logs to troubleshoot connectivity or performance issues.
- Fetch the public IP address of your ESP32 device from our cloud server to ensure seamless connectivity.
- Access location data (if permission is granted) to scan and connect with nearby WiFi-enabled home automation devices during initial setup.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties, except in the following cases:
- With Your Consent: We may share information if you explicitly authorize us to do so.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to a valid legal request, such as a court order.
- Service Providers: We may share non-personal data (e.g., anonymized diagnostic logs) with service providers who assist in maintaining the App, such as our cloud server provider for IP address resolution. These providers are bound by confidentiality agreements.
4. Data Storage and Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:
- Storing all personal and configuration data locally on your device using secure methods like SharedPreferences.
- Limiting data transmission to only what is necessary for App functionality (e.g., IP address requests to the cloud).
- Implementing encryption for communication between the App and the cloud server where applicable.
- Location data is used only during device setup and is not stored or transmitted outside the device.
However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Your Choices and Rights
You have the following rights regarding your information:
- Access and Update: You can view and modify your username, device settings, and schedules directly within the App.
- Delete Data: You can reset or delete locally stored data by clearing the App’s data through your device settings or uninstalling the App.
- Opt-Out: You can disable features like shake detection, WiFi connectivity, or location permission within the App settings to limit data collection.
If you have questions about your data or wish to exercise your rights, please contact us at support@elevaapp.com.
6. Third-Party Services
The App communicates with a cloud server (meghdootlab.in) to fetch the public IP address of your ESP32 device. This service is subject to its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.
7. Children’s Privacy
The Eleva App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete it.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy or through the App. Please review this policy periodically.
